ITC Section 337 institution (Inv. 337-TA-1524): certain powered rocker-recliner and glider-recliner mechanisms and seating units — Leggett & Platt et al. patent complaint against 11 respondents incl. Chinese furniture makers (procedural)

The USITC has instituted Section 337 investigation 337-TA-1524 on powered glider-recliner mechanisms, powered rocker-recliner mechanisms and finished seating units incorporating those mechanisms (91 FR 61249; the Commission ordered institution on September 22, 2026): Ultra-Mek, Inc. (Denton, NC), Leggett & Platt, Inc. and L&P Property Management Company (Carthage, MO) filed a complaint on August 21, 2026 (supplemented September 9 and 10, 2026) alleging infringement of U.S. Patent Nos. 8,398,165, 8,398,168, 8,016,348 and 8,297,693 (asserted claims as set out in the notice), and requesting a limited exclusion order and cease-and-desist orders. The 11 named respondents include four mainland-China furniture makers — Jiangsu Carya Smart Home Hardware (Yangzhou, Jiangsu), Henglin Home Furnishings (Huzhou, Zhejiang), Nanjing Hengning Home Furnishings and Zhejiang Hengjian Home Furnishing (Hangzhou) — plus Hong Kong-based Living Style Group and its Singapore/Vietnam affiliates and U.S. importers True Innovations, Colamy, Aurora Maison and Aerisnexus. This is an IP-based import-relief proceeding; institution itself changes no tariff rates. Any later limited exclusion order affecting U.S. exports of the involved furniture products would be tracked then. No specific values are given, see the FR text.
